I am an Associate Professor in Northeastern University's Departments of Philosophy and Religion and Political Science. I serve as the Associate Director of the Politics, Philosophy, and Economics Program. I am also affiliated with the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program and with the School of Law's Center for Law, Innovation, and Creativity (CLIC). I specialize in social and political philosophy, ethics, and philosophy of law. My areas of competence are in bioethics, neuroethics, and feminist philosophy. I am an Associate Editor at Analysis Reviews.
Before joining Northeastern in 2015, I was an Assistant Professor at Clemson University in upstate South Carolina. I received a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Boston University (under the direction of David Lyons), a M.A. in Philosophy from Georgia State University (under the direction of Andrew Altman), a Master 2 in Ethics and Politics from Université Paris IV Sorbonne, and a B.A. (Licence and Maîtrise) from Université Paris X Nanterre. In 2016-17, I was a Dworkin-Balzan Fellow at the New York University School of Law Center for Law and Philosophy. In 2022-2023, I was a Fellow-in-Residence at the Collegium de Lyon, one of France's Institutes for Advanced Study.
I co-organize the Northeast Workshop to Learn About Multicultural Philosophy (NEWLAMP), a summer institute designed to equip teachers with the competency to integrate modules on traditionally underrepresented areas of philosophy in their undergraduate courses. For its first edition in 2022, NEWLAMP focused on African and Africana social and political philosophy. The 2023 NEWLAMP, which was organized by Alex Guerrero at Rutgers University, focused on Mesoamerican, Latin American, and Latinx moral, social and political philosophy. In 2024, NEWLAMP is a NEH Summer Institute hosted by Northeastern University and focused on Native American, Indigenous, and Land-Based Social and Political Philosophy. Shelbi Nahwilet Meissner is my co-PI and the academic director of the workshop.

Just so you know, the 's' in Delmas is pronounced ('Delmass'), but not in Dumas, despite their etymological relationship (Delmas means "du mas" in Occitan - it's a common name in the South of France).
I am a first-generation college student. I was born in Cannes and grew up in Cagnes-sur-mer, a town outside Nice, France, known among other things for its medieval castle, Auguste Renoir's home, and its world championship of "boules carrées" which is a game of pétanque with cubes (or "square balls" as the Cagnois, with their penchant for oxymoron, call them) that is played uphill and downhill on a steep slope.
Whenever I go to Nice, I indulge in socca, brocciu, gnocchi niçois, bouillabaisse, rosé de Provence, and pastis. My favorite beach day is on the pristine Lerins Islands (the mysterious Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned on one of these islands; on the other island is a 5th century Cistercian monastery with a famed wine estate). My favorite hike is up this Baou.
Here in Massachusetts, I love jogging around this pond, swimming across that pond, practicing Taekwondo, cooking and baking up storms, mixing cocktails, complaining about the weather, and feeling incredibly lucky to be paid for doing what I love. I am also a happy (and busy) mother of twins. They like volcanoes, ninjas, sharks, and Star Wars. We like to go listen to live music at my husband's Irish pub, The Plough and Stars.
